Personal
Playwright
Micki Shelton (a.k.a. S. Michele McFadden) is a revered
member of the Prescott arts community. Along with Charissa
Menefee of Prescott
College, she co-founded “Tomorrow’s Theater
Tonight,” a monthly series of works-in-progress
read in downtown Prescott. Micki is a member of NORAZ
Poets and Prescott
Area Arts and Humanities Council; she is past Board
President of Arizona
Classical Theatre (2004–2006), and served for
five years (2002-2006) on the management team of the MAD
Linguist. Currently, she serves on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Prescott 2050 Visioning Group, Cultural Affairs Working Group. If you don’t catch
her in the morning at a local coffee house, you might
find her hiking the Thumb Butte Trail or riding her bicycle
on Prescott’s
Peavine Trail. Otherwise, she’ll be at home working
on a new play or writing one of the many textbooks she
writes to help her pay the bills. Female Playwright, Micki
Shelton is the mother of two: Colin, 27, an independent
film actor; and Molly, 18, a vocalist and a freshman at
Chapman Universtiy.
Education
- M.A., Education. Chapman University, Orange, CA.
- B.A., English. Minor: Speech and Drama. Westmont College,
Santa Barbara, CA. Performed key roles in Waiting for
Godot and An American Dame.
- Additional class work at Arizona State University and
University of California, Irvine.
- Member of South Coast Repertory’s Professional
Conservatory, 1992-1994, studied playwriting with John
Glore, Literary Manager.
